Mothers of Pre-Schoolers

Mothers of Preschoolers welcomes all mothers with children
ages 0 to 5. We meet the first Thursday of every month from September to June. Meetings start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m. Childcare is included through our MOPPETS program.

What are MOPS Meetings Like?

Each month we have a speaker discussing different aspects of raising children and motherhood. Topics this year include: discipling your children, nutrition, "Christ Being Our Home", setting your spiritual goals and intimacy with your spouse.

Don't worry about skipping breakfast- we have plenty of great food each month. Our friendly greeters will help you in the door and help you get your children settled into their classrooms.

The MOPPETS program provides a safe and nurturing environment for the kids. The children are grouped by age. They spend the time listening to a Bible story, creating a craft, having a snack and playing with new friends.

THURSDAY, JUNE 3, 2010
Start time: 9:30 a.m.
Child care ends at 11:45 a.m.

Building Successful Parent-Teacher Partnerships
Speaker: Natalie Schwartz

Come and celebrate the end of another great year at MOPS! Natalie Schwartz will be speaking about “Building Successful Parent-Teacher Partnerships.” The relationship between a parent and their child’s teacher is such a vital one. How do you open the lines of communication with a new teacher? How do you maintain the home-school connection? How do you tackle problems constructively?

Studies have shown parental involvement has a major impact on academic achievement. However, many parents take an ineffective approach to resolving school-related concerns when they arise. Children benefit the most when parents and teachers work together as partners.

Natalie is the author of The Teacher Chronicles: Confronting the Demands of Students, Parents, Administrators and Society. She has appeared on the Oprah & Friends Radio Network and PTA Radio to discuss how parents and teachers can develop productive relationships. She has also written articles on the topic for Our Children, Teacher Magazine, Westchester Family and TeachHUB.com.

We will also be thanking our teachers, helpers and many volunteers that help our organization flourish. We encourage each of you to participate by providing a dish of your choice - "potluck". We will be putting food out in stages so that as our teachers come to Fellowship Hall there will be fresh food out for the teachers. Please be sure to label your dishes with your name on a piece of tape if they are to be washed and returned to you by the end of the meeting. There will be members of the steering committee watching the children upstairs during this time.

We will also take time to honor our graduates who will be moving into a new and exciting phase of motherhood!

Hope you can join us!
