Mothers of Pre-Schoolers
Mothers of Preschoolers welcomes all mothers with children ages 0 to 5. We meet the first Thursday of every month from September to June. Meetings start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 11:45 a.m. Childcare is included through our MOPPETS program.
What are MOPS Meetings Like?
Each month we have a speaker discussing different aspects of raising children and motherhood. Topics this year include: discipling your children, nutrition, "Christ Being Our Home", setting your spiritual goals and intimacy with your spouse.
Don't worry about skipping breakfast- we have plenty of great food each month. Our friendly greeters will help you in the door and help you get your children settled into their classrooms.
The MOPPETS program provides a safe and nurturing environment for the kids. The children are grouped by age. They spend the time listening to a Bible story, creating a craft, having a snack and playing with new friends.
OUR NEW YEAR KICKS OFF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2009
Start time: 9:30 a.m.
Child care ends at 11:45 a.m.
Talented, Tired, Beautiful Feet by Paula VanDerlyn
“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news.”—Isaiah 52:7
This year we will be exploring life on Planet Mom. Before we soar through the heavens, Paula VanDerlyn is going to make sure we keep our feet grounded. Paula will be speaking on talented, tired, beautiful feet.
When we walk into a new situation we always try to put our best foot forward. What about the other foot? You would look pretty silly trying to hop on one foot - the favored one. The other foot has talents too. They may be not as showy or as valued by this world but Jesus valued them. Gifts of caring, helping, nurturing, good listening, being open to other points of view, of being interdependent and patient. We will learn what foot care really involves and what kind of foot problems can crop up.
What is a MOPS mentor? A mentor is a woman with a personal relationship with God who lovingly advises, guides and encourages mothers in their mothering journey. Paula is this and so much more. She says, “Even though my children are all grown, my caregiving job is not over. I live in Somers with my husband, Jim, his daughter and her 3 year old son and my 85 year old mother. We share 5 adult children ranging in age from 27 through 42 and have 10 grandchildren ranging in age 4 months through 11 years old.” To learn more about Paula, check out Paula’s Bible Study page on our new website mopswestchester.com.
We will also meet our new steering team. Each team member is going to share her favorite thing so there will be lots of goodies to take home. Thank you to the steering team for providing the food for this month!
Hope you can join us this month and bring a friend!
MOPS Outreach for September and October
Scrappin’ For Preemies
Each week at the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital, parents gather around a table in the NICU Conference Room and scrap their child’s journey. With the help of a Certified Child Life Specialist and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, parents are encouraged to engage in conversations with other parents, utilize journaling techniques and create visual memories that will illustrate their baby’s first few months of life. MOPS will be helping by:
